The elimination of tetracycline discoloration by intentional endodontics and internal bleaching

Tetracyclines were used extensively in the 1950s and 1960s as a broad­ spectrum antibiotic against many infections. In 1958, their adverse den­ tal effects were reported.1 Studies in the following two decades have con­ firmed that tetracyclines administered during tooth development could dis­ turb enamel formation and cause den­ tin discoloration.
