Most in-depth endodontic diagnos is made when pain occurs or symptoms  develop.  At best, the diagnos is is based on observing  a  patient’s reaction to a piece of ice , a piece  of melting rubber, or electric  shock.  The  complexity  of human responses to  d isease  and  injury  easily shows the inadequacy of these methods.
